Week 1, June 16-20 ENROLLMENT CLOSED

A week exploring the old west. Learn about our local landmark of Owen Brown’s gravesite, and Mary Fields, the African American stagecoach driver who defied all odds to prove her excellence as a stagecoach driver. We’ll meet a real cowboy and learn about horses. We’ll try our hands at panning for gold and learn some old-timey skills like candle making and sewing. (Thursday is Juneteenth, observed)

Week 2, June 23-27 ENROLLMENT CLOSED

Let’s celebrate fruit. What is fruit, and what can we do with it? We’ll enjoy a variety of fruits and make jam, dehydrate it, and do other delicious things with nature’s candy. Whether you are curious about all fruit or are just starting to explore different textures and flavors, this will be week full of sweet discoveries.

Week 3, June 30-July 3 ENROLLEMENT CLOSED

This week we’ll get wet. We’ll play with water and learn how it moves. We’ll find out how desert plants store water. We’ll explore different materials and learn about the words absorbent and repellent. We’ll also find lots of ways to play with water and have a splashy time. (Friday is Fourth of July, no camp)

Week 4, July 7-11

We’re going to get dirty! Planet Earth is made up of so many kinds of dirt. We’ll make sand castles, and sand paintings. We’ll get mucky with clay and make pottery. We’ll learn how to make nutritious soil for your garden and start a worm box.

Week 5, July 14-18 ENROLLMENT CLOSED

What is in the sky above us? We’ll explore the stars and learn to read the clouds for weather clues. We’ll birdwatch and make rainbows. We’ll make our own kites. We will have a heavenly time learning about what is in the air above us.

Week 6, July 21-25 ENROLLMENT CLOSED

This week is all about stories, specifically the magical kind. Each day we’ll explore a fairytale from somewhere in the world and take inspiration to build our own story. We’ll also create a miniature world and tell the story that emerges from it.

Week 7 – July 28-August 1

The African savannah is a majestic place. Explore this incredible biome and the unique animals and plants and that live there. Discover the people who live there and learn some of their stories and music.

Week 8 – August 4-8

This week is all about building, drawing, painting, sculpting and making. Campers will have access to a variety of materials to express their ideas. We’ll enjoy a variety of music and stories to inspire us. Professional artist friends will visit to share about their practices, and campers will learn about what it takes to be a professional artist.
