Learning happens naturally.

Let Rising Hill be your guide.

Rising Hill guides all kinds of learning

Learning happens best when kids and teachers have a respectful relationship and know each other well.

It also helps to be outdoors, exercising our physical and sensory systems and therefore supporting our intellectual, emotional and social selves. We’re not just a nature school, we’re a balance school.

Rising Hill is small on purpose: to allow group-members to know each other well, learn from and teach each other, and feel safe and seen. And everything we do ties to the natural world, so we can contribute to healthier communities, systems and world.

Which path do you want to take today?

  • Rising Hill Learning is a microschool opening this fall in Altadena. Microschools offer custom learning plans for individuals, and small, mixed age cohorts so every child can learn at their own pace, while teaching and learning from each other. Learn more about Rising Hill Learning here.

  • Rising Hill offers many programs to get kids outside, in the sunshine and mountain air.

Junior Farmers and Farmer’s Apprentice offer opportunities for kids to do real farm work, exercising physically, socially and emotionally as they team up with each other and care for animals.

Tuesdays on the Farm give small children and their parents a chance to meet and touch the animals in a safe and controlled way. Help is on-hand to make sure parents can relax and enjoy a little time too!

Camp at Rising Hill is a summer day camp that gets kids outdoors, whether working with farm animals, gardening, hiking and canyon play, or simply playing or art-making in the sunshine.

  • Whether enrolled in a school program or homeschooling, sometimes kids and parents need a little help. Rising Hill provides tutoring, in-person and screen-free, customized to individual student needs.

Trained in the highly regarded Orton-Gillingham approach to phonics through the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education, Lynette Wiebe has years of experience teaching phonics, early literacy, numeracy and reasoning to primary age students. Lynette will learn your child’s nuanced needs and strengths and help them meet their full potential.
